Sedation Consult Instructors

Allan Schwartz, DDS, CRNA, Founder of Sedation Consult
A 1980 graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry and 1994 graduate of Washington University School of Nurse Anesthesia, Dr. Schwartz has been teaching anesthesia to Dentists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Physicians, and Nurses for over 10 years. He is currently employed with Anesthesia Associates of Southern Illinois as a CRNA, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the department of Periodontics at the Center for Advanced Dental Education at Saint Louis University. He also possess a deep sedation/general anesthesia permit granted by the Missouri Dental Board.

Katie Post, DDS
A 2003 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry who also completed a General Practice Residency at the University of Iowa, Dr. Post has been practicing dentistry in a six-doctor family dental practice in Rochester, MN. She is a member of the Minnesota Dental Associations Foundations, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Minnesota Dental Association, and the Women of Southeast Minnesota Study Club. She also delivers Intravenous Moderate Sedation for the care of her patients.

  A graduate of the  
  University of Minnesota, 
  School of Nursing, Julie
  practices now as a 
  Registered Nurse for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Minnesota.  Previously she worked as an ALS Nurse Clinician, a pediatric endocrine nurse, and a nurse auditor for the University of Missouri. She brings her excellent nursing skills to our team to assist our students with the clinical teaching portion of our classes.

Lisa Castleman, DDS
Dr. Castleman received her dental degree from University of California at Los Angeles School of Dentistry. She served in the U.S. Navy for four years after completing a hospital-based general practice residency. She completed her endodontic residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, CA.  Dr.Castleman has been in private practice limited to Endodontics in Springfield, Missouri for the past twelve years.

Jennifer Kinder, RDH
Jennifer received her degree in Dental Hygiene from St. Louis Community College in St Louis, MO.  She has been a dental hygienist in a general dental practice for sixteen years. Jennifer is trained in ACLS and BLS and is also Certified in Block and Infiltration Anesthesia, Nitrous Oxide, Monitoring Moderate (Conscious) and IV Sedation.

Kevin Medlin, DDS
​A 1988 graduate of The University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC) Dental School, followed by a USAF Dental General Practice Residency; Dr. Medlin is a certified ACLS Instructor and a member of the Missouri Dental Board Intravenous Moderate Sedation Committee; Dr. Medlin practices Family Dentistry along with Intravenous Moderate  Sedation in Republic, Missouri since 1991.

Tricia Hovick, LDA
​Tricia received her degree in Dental Assisting from Herzing University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She dental assisted in a general dental practice for 6 years before becoming an Oral and Maxillofacial Dental Assistant, assisting in Orthognathic Surgery. She is trained in ACLS, BLS, Certified in both DAANCE and Minnesota Monitoring Sedation/ General Anesthesia and Intravenous Catheter Insertion.

Ellie Otte, RN, BSN Ellie is a 2000 graduate of the University Of Iowa School Of Nursing.  Ellie practices now as an assistant and Implant Coordinator at Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Consultants in Minnesota.  Previously she worked in plastic and reconstructive surgery, the NICU, a wound care clinic and was also a clinical nurse instructor.  Ellie brings her passion for teaching to assist our students with the clinical portion of the Minnesota I.V. Catheter Certification Course.​

Michelle Manelli Schneider, LDA
Ms. Manelli Schneider graduated from the Dental Assisting program in 1976 at Central Lakes College in Brainerd. She has been involved in all aspects and function of the dental office for over forty years. She is currently employed with Metro DentalCare (American Dental Partners) as an Licensed Dental Assistant in their Maple Grove Specialty Practice.

Tammy Hexum, LDA
Tammy graduated from the Minnesota School of Business.  She worked in General Dentistry for four years.  She has worked in a private oral surgery practice for over nineteen years.  She is certified in Monitoring Sedation and General Anesthesia and Insertion of  Intravenous Catheters as well as Nitrous Oxide.  Tammy enjoys working with patients and loves the patient care portion of her job.
